Rs 300 crore for Urdu schools in Andhra Pradesh

He said that the government taken back 5,000 acres encroached Wakf land in AP.

Guntur: Minister for minority welfare P. Raghunadha Reddy on Friday said that the state government will sanction Rs 300 crore for the development of Urdu medium schools in AP. He said that the TD had earmarked Rs 710 crore for minority development in the state budget.

Speaking at the 129 birth anniversary celebration of Moulana Abul Kalam Azad in Guntur on Friday, the minister described the Indian education system as the world’s best education system as it was introduced by Moulana Azad, India’s first education minister. He reminded that the day was being celebrated as National Education Day.

Mr Raghunatha Reddy said that Azad said that education as the best weapon for development but minorities have failed to concentrate on education. He said that Muslims must encourage their children to study well as this would lead to overall development.

The minister said that AP government was taking action to protect Wakf lands and announced that committees would be appointed in every district headed by district collectors concern to protect Wakf lands and to reclaim encroached lands.

He said that the government taken back 5,000 acres encroached Wakf land in AP. The minister said that the government helped 2,059 Muslims perform Haj this year and starting Urdu University at Kurnool.

AP State Minorities Finance Corporation chairman, Md. Hidyath, MLC, Sk. Sharif, APSMFC director, Sk. Lal Vazir and others were present.
