In 5 Days After Assembly Polls Announced, Rs 20.43 cr Seized

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday said that the law enforcement agencies seized Rs 20.43 crore which was being transported without documentation ever since the model code of Conduct came into force in the state. The police have also seized Rs 86 lakh worth of liquor at different places and ganja valued at Rs 89 lakh, apart from precious material worth Rs 14.65 crore.
Stating that 100 companies of Central armed police forces personnel would be deployed by October 20, ECI officials said that 34,338 cases were booked under public property, 22,132 cases of defacement removal of public property, 11434 cases on private property and 7,322 cases defacement removal on private property.
Police also seized 7,040 kg rice, 440 saris, 80 sewing machines, 87 cookers and a car.
