BJP leaders warn ‘errant police officers’ of consequences

HYDERABAD: The BJP on Tuesday warned “errant police officers who appear to have enslaved themselves to the TRS leadership” that they will have to face the consequences for foisting false cases, and intimidating BJP workers in Munugode Assembly constituencies.

The BJP candidate for the November 3 bypoll in Munugode, Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, and party MLA Etala Rajendar told reporters in Munugode that BJP workers were not being allowed to move freely in the constituency, not being allowed to enter the constituency from other parts of the state and were being threatened by some police officials.

Rajgopal Reddy, who is set to start village-wise voter reach-out from Wednesday, said the TRS government was abusing police power to curtail BJP’s campaign. “We will not be deterred by such moves and irrespective of the intimidation of our party workers, we will win the bypoll,” he said

“Remember that the TRS government and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will be gone after the 2023 elections. We are taking note of such police officials and will complain to the Election Commission and ensure punishment.” Rajendar said.

He also said that workers and leaders at the ground level from other parties who recently joined the BJP, were being told by some police officers to join the TRS or else face the consequences. Such officials should be prepared to go home after the next Assembly elections, Rajendar warned.
