THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former JNU students union president Kanhaiya Kumar accused the Sangh Parivar and BJP of trying to force Modi bhakti on people in the name of deshbhakti. Kanhaiya accused Modi Government of creating hype over surgical strikes for vested political and electoral interests. He was speaking at the anti communalism and anti imperialism conference held in connection with the AIYF state conference here the other day.

The JNU leader said going by the style of functioning of  Mr Modi, one can only say that he is not Prime Minister but the "Prime Model" of  the country. “Our nation will not develop just by Modi’s tweets or Modi waving at the people,” he said. Taking a dig at the prime minister for his failure, Kanhaiya said; “Modi has not brought Skill India policy but Kill India policy,” he said. He said the situation in many parts of the country was such that those who were speaking against Modi were being branded as “enemies.”

“The BJP led government is trying to politicise the surgical strikes carried out by our army in LOC for their vested political and electoral interests,” he said referring to the posters pasted by the BJP hailing the surgical strikes across poll bound Uttar Pradesh. Kanhaiya accused the prime minister of diverting the attention of people from burning issues like poverty, unemployment, price rise, malnutrition, infant mortality, maternal mortality and other major health issues. “He has completely failed to deliver the acche din that he had promised ahead of last Lok Sabha polls. The government has failed to deliver and hence it was raising the pitch of  nationalism and patriotism,” he said.
