Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday said cow is a sacred animal for our Hindu brethren, but the Constitution guarantees right to life and equality to all Indians.
Mr Owaisi was responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments on cow and ‘Om’. The PM had said that if someone hears ‘Om’ and cow, they become cautious.
Mr Owaisi said that he wanted to remind the PM that in our country, our ears hear the words he mentioned and all Indians also hear the call to prayer in the form of Azaan from masjids and church bells tolling and voices from Gurudwaras. “This is India and it is not appropriate to say that ears perk up when listening to some particular words,” the MP said.
He said the Prime Minister’s ears should perk up when he hears humans being killed in the name of the cow protection and when the Constitution is being disrespected.
“We hope the Prime Minister says that he would pay attention when someone is killed as the Constitution guarantees right to life and equality to humans, whoever he may be,” Mr Owaisi said.
