Edappadi K Palaniswami lists out mega projects in Kovai

Study is also on for creating a Metro Rail link in Coimbatore “just like in Chennai” and for expansion of the airport in the textile city.

Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday said multiple mega projects have been launched already in and around Coimbatore, such as an elevated highway to cover nine kms at a cost of Rs.900 crore. The project report for this project is getting ready, he told reporters at the airport here.

Study is also on for creating a Metro Rail link in Coimbatore “just like in Chennai” and for expansion of the airport in the textile city. Instead of complimenting the Government for doing good work, Stalin “is lying and spreading disinformation by just reading scripts written for him by someone”.

Responding to the Opposition criticism on the outcome of his foreign trip, CM Palaniswami explained that it would take “five to six years for setting up a major industry due to land acquisition and obtaining financial support; and two-three years in the case of smaller industries”. While only Rs 26,000 crore of investments came into Tamil Nadu during the DMK rule, 2006-11, the first Global Investors Meet held by then CM Jayalalithaa at Chennai in 2015 had MoUs signed for projects worth Rs 2.45 lakh crores of which 29 industries worth Rs 53,000 crore have already been set up.

CM Palaniswami said on his foreign trip, he had signed 41 MoUs committing investments worth Rs 8,835 crore.

“There are still more investors talking to us now”, he said.
