TJAC will stay on after party is formed in January

He said people were choosing different ways to register their protest against the government.

Jainoor, (KUMARAM BHEEM ASIFABAD): The political party of Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram will be announced in January next year, after the completion of its state-wide Amarula Spoorthi Yatra.
Cadres and leaders of the proposed party are being selected. Those aspiring for tickets for the 2019 elections are organising Prof. Kodandaram’s meetings in their constituencies.

The shift in Prof. Kodandaram’s demeanour to a political leader is visible. His language, gestures – the way he greets people standing on the roadside with folded hands like a political leader – are indicative of his new avatar. He has refrained from making any political statements during the yatra.

A close aide of Prof. Kodandaram said that they are testing the mood of the people and the yatra was a mass contact programme before the party was launched.

Speaking to this newspaper, Prof. Kodandaram said he could rule out the possibility of forming a political forum outside the TJAC. He said the TJAC would not be converted into a political party as many government employees are its members and its purpose is different.

He said university students and unemployed youth would use their vote against the state government as the ruling party had failed to fulfil the promises it had made during the 2014 elections. “These forces may even organise protests against the ruling government before the elections,” Prof. Kodandaram said.
He said that creating bodies such as farmer coordination committees was aimed at weakening the local bodies and cutting off their powers.

He said people were choosing different ways to register their protest against the government. He observed that the Dharna Chowk had been shifted to Pragathi Bhavan and the commissionerates. TJAC is planning to organise a rally of unemployed youth next month in Hyderabad.
