Uttam seeks Left backing for bypoll

Hyderabad: Former PCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy held the ‘Azadi ki Gaurav Yatra’ in Munagala of Suryapet district to commemorate 75 years of independence and mark the 137th year of the Congress formation.

Uttam Kumar Reddy, the Nalgonda MP, was accompanied by former MLA N. Padmavathi Reddy, Suryapet DCC president Cheviti Venkanna Yadav and scores of party workers. He covered 12 km on the first day.

Earlier, he participated in a puja at the 1,000-year-old Repala temple and felicitated 92-year-old freedom fighter Unnam Venkaiah.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Congress had fought for independence and made significant contributions to the development of India. Besides, the party greatly contributed to establishing social justice and empowering democratic institutions.
He praised the role of Communist parties and sought their support at the Munugode bypoll.
