Bandi hails Centre’s move on boiled rice

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday welcomed the Centre’s decision to procure 8 lakh tonnes more of parboiled rice from the state, and said this decision demonstrated the concern Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP had for farmers.

Sanjay said the Centre was already procuring 6.05 lakh tonnes of parboiled rice from the state and the additional procurement shows how sincere the party was when it came to the welfare of farmers.
Thanking Modi, Union food minister Piyush Goyal for the decision, he said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had created enormous confusion over rice purchases, changing his stance time and again.

He mentioned that the Chief Minister had written to the Centre saying the state would not insist on purchase of parboiled rice.
Sanjay, on day 9 of his Praja Sangrama Yatra, continued his attack on the TRS government saying the ruling party and the Chief Minister had no right to demand a rollback in fuel prices.

He said Telangana collected Rs 30 per litre of petrol as value added tax. The situation of fuel prices was such as TSRTC had instructed its drivers to cross over to Karnataka and fill the vehicles with diesel which was Rs 13 cheaper there.

He also continued with his challenge to the Chief Minister to have all the 12 TRS MLAs who defected from the Congress resign and face fresh elections to demonstrate people's support.

Sanjay slammed the Communist parties, saying they had enslaved themselves to the TRS. The Left parties, which claim that Nalgonda district was their pocket borough, should contest the bypoll.

“The days of Communist parties are over,” he said.
