KCR fears losing Muslim vote, hence opposition to UCC: Arvind

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao can go live in another country if he was unhappy with the plans of the BJP-led government at the Centre to implement the Uniform Civil Code, BJP Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri said on Tuesday.

“Whether he (Rao) opposes it or not, the UCC Bill will pass in Parliament with a massive majority. After that, if he is unhappy, then he can go to another country,” Arvind said.

“KCR held a meeting with Muslim leaders to which he called AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. The Chief Minister realised that his campaign to convince people that the BJP and the Congress are together has failed. This has created a fear in him that his party will lose the Muslim vote. And hence the drama of meeting with Muslim leaders,” Arvind claimed.

On TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy declaring that if required the Congress could make Mulugu MLA Seethakka the Chief Minister, Arvind challenged him saying: “If he is sincere about having a tribal become Chief Minister, he should step down from TPCC president post and give it to Seethakka.”

Earlier in the day, former Khairatabad MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy had also dismissed the BRS and MIM opposition to the UCC. “The BJP has been committed to UCC since the inception of Bharatiya Jana Sangh in the 1950s. In every BJP manifesto, our party has committed itself to UCC and it will be implemented,” he said.
