CPM-run library gutted in Nadapuram
Kozhikode: A CPM-controlled library at Iringannur in Nadapuram had been gutted in the wee hours of Saturday apparently as a sequence to the ongoing CPM-BJP clashes in the rural parts of the district.
The furniture and papers inside the ‘Iringannur Public Library’ were torched after breaking open its lock. CPM Nadapuram area committee blamed it on the RSS and laid a blockade to the Nadapuram-Thalassery road in the morning.
The protest for more than an hour caused traffic block and was withdrawn after the police intervention. Nadapuram inspector Joshy Jose, who rushed to the spot, convinced them that the culprits would be booked at the earliest.
Area secretary T.P. Chathu accused the RSS of fomenting trouble in the region.
“The vandalised library is the cultural space of Iringannur which caters to the whole section of people,” he said. Nadapuram police is investigating the case.
