Janata Dal (U) regrets' UDF ties
KOZHIKODE: The Janata Dal United (JDU) executive committee that convened in Kozhikode on Saturday felt that its decision to be with the UDF was not correct. State secretary general Varghese George said that the decision affected the image of the party.
Though Mr Varghese and general secretary Sheikh P. Harris expressed their willingness to resign, the state committee did not accept it. Strong criticism arose in the meeting against the party as well as the former government. The decisions taken towards the end of the government backfired, the meeting concluded.
On June 9, JDU general secretary advocate Thomas Babu said that the party faced deep crisis after the alliance with the UDF. He alleged that whenever criticism arose, the party tried to blame it upon the Congress and the IUML, without creatively tackling it. This is against the system in any front. The opinion of the party workers that the socialists should be with the left, was also not considered, he said.
