India had manual to build aircraft: Subramanian Swamy

Dr Swamy claimed that Indians were on the top globally in several fields, including mathematics, science, medicine and surgery.

Hyderabad: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Friday argued for making Sanskrit a compulsory subject in schools along with the mother tongue.

“Sanskrit should be made compulsory in my opinion. The mother tongue and Sanskrit should be made compulsory and any third language could be optional,” Dr Swamy said on the sidelines of an event here.

Explaining the rationale for his argument, the BJP MP said Sanskrit was the only acceptable language for storing knowledge for artificial intelligence in a computer.

Dr Swamy claimed that Indians were on the top globally in several fields, including mathematics, science, medicine and surgery. “We even had manuals on how to build an aeroplane. Later on, you will find out that it was a substantive manual and it is being translated now,” Dr Swamy said, adding that the history of the country was not written correctly.

“We are working out to write a textbook which will have a genuine history based on scientific facts that have now come to our knowledge,” he said.
