Sumalatha scripting violence at her rallies to gain public sympathy: HDK

“Now, he is talking against me sitting in a hotel in Mysuru. I know what he is doing and I don’t want to discuss him,” he said.

Mandya: Taking on Ms Sumalatha Ambareesh, wife of the late actor/politician, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said here on Thursday that she was playing out a new movie script of enacting a drama of stone pelting on her rally during the fag end of the campaign to gain the sympathy of Mandya voters.

Addressing an election rally for his son and Janata Dal (Secular) candidate, Nikhil Kumaraswamy in Maddur taluk, he accused Ms Sumalatha of planning such “tricks” to tarnish his party’s image.” She is ready to go any extent and later blames the JD(S). But we don't indulge in such cheap gimmicks and seek the support of people on the basis of the performance of our coalition government over the last 11 months," he added.

Continuing his tirade against Ms Sumalatha, Mr Kumaraswamy claimed he had information that the “independent candidate” had promised a foreign trip and jobs to people of the constituency in return for their votes .

“People know she is backed by the BJP which had criticised my budget as a ‘Mandya budget.’ These same leaders are now here to seek votes for her. Which of these leaders visited you when over 200 Mandya farmers committed suicide? Although I was not the CM at the time, I visited every family and distributed a compensation of Rs 50,000 to each of them. It is upto the people now to decide whether they want Kumaranna or Ms Sumalatha,” he added.

As for his son, the Chief Minister claimed that all political parties had united to defeat him, but they would not succeed as he enjoyed the love and affection of the people of the constituency.

Attacking Janata Dal (Secular) MLC Sandesh Nagaraj, he said that he was nominated to the state Legislative Council as he did not have the capacity to win elections on his own.

“Now, he is talking against me sitting in a hotel in Mysuru. I know what he is doing and I don’t want to discuss him,” he said.
