Modi's fast a cheap trick': Asaduddin Owaisi
Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Itteha-dul Muslimeen (MIM) chief and Hyderabad Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi described Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to observe a day’s fast as a mark of protest against disruption of Parliament by opposition parties as a ‘cheap trick.’
“Will he sit on fast for thousands of farmers who lost their lives, for atrocities on Dalits and for not being able to fulfil two crore jobs every year as promised by him? Why doesn’t Mr Prime Minister sit on a fast to atone for his false promises?” Mr Owaisi asked on Wednesday.
Mr Owaisi said that the BJP had more than 270 MPs in the Parliament and they could have easily moved the motion and suspended the MPs who were in the well. “The AIDMK is their ally and the BJP wanted them to obstruct the House. They wanted the House not to function so that the failures of the government are not discussed,” he remarked.
Mr Owaisi asked the PM and the BJP to spell out their stand on the kidnapping, drugging, rape and murder of the eight-year-old girl in a temple in Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir. “Important issue is PM talks about ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’. He proudly claims he stands for protecting the girl child and stands for empowerment of girl child. Here is a classic example of hypocrisy. Here his party is sharing power and where his own MLAs have taken out a protest rally in support of the accused. I want to know from the PM and BJP what is their stand on this poor eight-year-old girl’s kidnapping, rape and subsequent death,” he said.
Mr Owaisi added, "I want to know from the CM of Uttar P the truth. He claims he has done so many encounters and I say there were cold-blooded murders. Will Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh do justice to the poor girl? You have a Chief Minister who meets the MLA and the MLA meets the CM as if he is the king of the world. An MLA who is nonchalant about the criminal act done by his brother."
