GUMMIDIPOONDI: DMDK president Vijayakanth on Monday lashed out at the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa and DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, for not introducing prohibition in the state during their tenure.

“Why do they seek another term to enforce prohibition in the state?” he asked.
“Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa are giving assurance to people to implement prohibition if voted to power. I am happy about it. You were chief minister for five times, what were you doing then?” he said to a thunderous applause of his cadres.

Taking on those who questioned the ideology of the six- party alliance, he said all parties had joined hands on one policy of preventing DMK and AIADMK, which were  ruling the State for over 50 years, from coming back to power.

“For the past 50 years, both DMK and AIADMK are ruling the State alternatively. Now the DMDK-PWA-TMC have joined together. Our war has begun from yesterday (launch of campaign from Mamandur near Chengalpattu). This election is a war. Let us see who wins”, he said.

“In this war, people have to decide who should emerge victorious. Many star campaigners will come to support them (DMK, AIADMK). If you decide to vote for them,   nobody can save you. It is your fate,” he said.
