Darsi MLA refutes reports of quitting YSRC

VIJAYAWADA: YSR Congress MLA Maddisetti Venugopal from Darsi constituency has affirmed that he will remain with YSRC and continue his political journey only with Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He refuted reports in media that he will be quitting the ruling party and joining Telugu Desam.

Venugopal maintained that during past two-and-a-half months, owing to personal reasons, he has neither been able to participate in YSRC government’s Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam mass contact programme or in party programmes. He has also been away from his constituency during the period.

The Darsi legislator said based on this, some newspapers and channels, particularly those supportive of TDP, have started speculating that he will be changing the party.

Venugopal said everybody knows that the 2019 election has been very crucial for him. At the time, YSRC chief Jagan Mohan Reddy had fully supported him. “He (Jagan) has faith in me and I have faith in him. I will follow CM Jagan’s footsteps and go by his instructions,” the Darsi MLA declared.

He asserted that his constituency has developed a lot thanks to the Chief Minister. Darsi town got a ₹125 crore comprehensive water scheme, with drinking water tap connections reaching every house. Darsi-Kurichedu road, whose repairs had been pending since times immemorial, has been laid, he pointed out.
