Suspense still on seat for Nara Lokesh
Vijayawada: Even after the date for the AP Assembly has been announced, AP minister Nara Lokesh is keeping everyone guessing on where he is going to contest from on April 11. Mr Lokesh is an MLC, and has expressed a desire to contest for the Assembly. His father, TD president and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has indicated he will not vacate Kuppam for Mr Lokesh.
For his first direct election, it is learnt that Mr Naidu wants to field Mr Lokesh either from Bheemili or, more probably, Vizag North. This seat is currently held by the BJP’s Vishnu Kumar Raju, who won due to the TD’s 2014 alliance.
The TD considers north Andhra its bastion, and Vizag has a huge urban population apart from voters from the Kamma and Kshatriya communities. Initial reports had suggested that Mr Lokesh was looking at an Assembly seat in Krishna district, a Kamma bastion.
