Vijayawada: With the poll schedule being announced by the Election Commission, there is only a month left for Andhra Pradesh to go to the polls on April 11, and therefore battle lines have clearly been drawn.

The ruling TD and opposition parties YSRC, Jana Sena, Congress and BJP are expected to announce their candidates this week as the filing of nominations ends on March 25. Though there are many parties in the fray, the main fight is expected to be between the N Chandrababu Naidu-led TD and Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRC.

Both Mr Reddy and Mr Naidu who have almost finalised the list of candidates expected to contest both Assembly and Lok Sabha segments are giving final touches. Mr Reddy has called on all those wishing to join the party to do it in the next two to three days and has hinted that the doors would be closed after that.

Mr Naidu is expected to start his poll campaign from Srikakulam for apparent vastu reasons after having darshan of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala on March 16 or 17. He will first address a meeting of party booth workers and Seva Mitras in Tirupati and launch the road show from Srikakulam.
