K Chandrasekhar Rao campaign to start from Karimnagar
Hyderabad: TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will launch the party campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on March 17 with a public meeting in Karimnagar, which he sees as his lucky venue. This will be followed by one at Nizamabad on March 19.
Mr Rao outlined his campaign plans while addressing the TRS Legislative Party meeting at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, sources said. He told the MLAs to make arrangements to hold public meetings with at least two lakh people in attendance. He said that in view of the release of the election schedule, party working president K.T. Rama Rao would reschedule his campaign.
Sources said Mr Rao entrusted the responsibility of ensuring the victory of the party’s MP nominees to the legislators.
He said that the MPs had worked hard during the recent Assembly elections and it was time for the legislators to repay the gesture.
Mr Rao told MLAs to meticulously chart out the public meetings as they have 29 days to cover all the Assembly segments under the 16 Lok Sabha seats between the election notification and the polls on April 11.
He asked the legislators to work for greater victory margins by taking advantage of the increase of the polling percentage in the recent Assembly polls and by convincing voters about the advantages of winning 16 Lok Sabha seats for the welfare and progress of the state.
Sources said Mr Rao was confident of playing a major role in national politics and would draft its strategy after the results are declared on May 23.
He told legislators that the government would hold the zilla and mandal parishad poll after the general elections.
