Are you pardoning or politicising Rajiv's killers?: Tamilisai Sounderarajan
Chennai: The state unit of the BJP took strong exception to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s “mess with the wrong forces” remark and also for saying he has completely forgiven his father’s killers, and said if the Congress really had sympathy for the Tamils during the ethnic war and expressed it then, this action could have prevented the killing of lakhs of innocent Tamils by the then Sri Lankan government.
“If this feeling was expressed then, it could have prevented the killing of lakhs and lakhs of innocent Tamils by the then Sri Lankan government with the support of your Congress government then. Are you are pardoning or politicising now?” she asked referring to Rahul’s remark that “in politics, when you mess with the wrong forces, and if you stand for something, you will die.”
In Singapore, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, said he and his sister Priyanka had “completely” forgiven their father’s killers. “For many years, we were quite upset and hurt, but somehow... (we have) completely (forgiven them),” he said at a programme in Singapore.
Contending that Rahul’s sudden disclosure which came at an unexpected time was “surprising” Dr. Tamilisai asked, “why were these feelings, which did not arise during the ethic war, unexpectedly conveyed now?” “Had these feelings been expressed then (during the war) the lives of atleast two lakh innocent Tamils in Sri Lanka could have been saved. Why this farce now?” Dr. Tamilisai asked.
Wondering why Priyanka Gandhi discreetly met Nalini convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, in prison, Dr Tamilisai claimed that only after her meeting with Nalini, the then Congress government “abetted” the genocide in the island nation. “This also led to the killing of LTTE leader Prabhakaran. Now Rahul Gandhi says he and his sister had completely forgiven their father’s killers. Will anyone believe this?” Dr. Tamilisai asked.
