Akhilesh Yadav set to face dad, uncle ire

Now, after a humiliating defeat for the party, Mr Amar Singh already set the agenda for the attack on the young leader.

New Delhi: Having lost the battle for Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav now faces bigger trouble back home with his father Mulayam Singh Yadav and uncle Shivpal Yadav set to bare their fangs at him.

After Mr Akhilesh Yadav had wrested control of the party from his father and uncle in a meticulously planned operation in February, the duo along with party leader Amar Singh had been out in the cold having little say in party affairs and ticket distribution.

Now, after a humiliating defeat for the party, Mr Amar Singh already set the agenda for the attack on the young leader. Soon after it was clear that the SP has got one of its worst drubbings in its political history, Mr Amar Singh hopped from studio to studio, saying it was the arrogance of Mr Akhilesh Yadav which led to the defeat.

The Rajya Sabha leader also said that allying with the Congress was the biggest mistake of the SP. Party patriarch Mulayam had already expressed his disapproval for the alliance.

Earlier, Mr Akhilesh Yadav had blamed Mr Amar Singh for the differences in the family. Mr Amar Singh had been expelled once each by Mr Mulayam Singh and Mr Akhilesh Yadav.

Later, following a letter to the Rajya Sabha secretariat, he was declared a member without any party affiliation. Mr Amar Singh also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah with the huge victory of the party. Mr Modi’s face and BJP Mr Shah’s organisational skills had helped the party,” he said.
