Telangana Budget on March 14, sessions on Saturdays and Sundays too
Hyderabad: The Budget session of the TS Legislative Assembly will be held till March 31 and the 2016-2017 Budget would be presented by finance minister Etala Rajender on March 14.
This decision was taken at the Business Advisory Committee meeting chaired by Speaker S. Madhusudhana Chary in his chambers on the Assembly premises here on Friday.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy, MIM Floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, BJP Floor leader K. Laxman, TD leader A. Revanth Reddy, YSRC leader Venkateswara Rao and others attended.
On request of the Opposition, the CM agreed to continue the session till March 31, Legislature Secretary Raja Sadaram said.
The House will also sit on Saturdays and Sunday. However, there will be sittings on March 15, 23 and 25. The House will adopt motion of thanks on the Governor’s address on March 12 and 13.
Against past tradition, the BAC also decided that adjournment motions on matters of urgent public importance will be allowed to be moved MLAs only after Question Hour.
This step was taken in view of the past experience when Opposition moved adjournment motions, created ruckus if they were rejected, stalled proceeding which led to Question Hour being postponed or deemed answered.
The House will take up the ordinance to make LRS and BRC legal in view of objection by the court, three VAT amendment bills and others.
Mr Jana Reddy said they requested more time for legislators to speak. He also opposed the proposal of taking up adjournment motions after Question Hour.
