Pon Radhakrishnan doesn't rule out alliance with AIADMK

Radhakrishnan has made this comment a day after DMDK chief Vijayakanth announced his decision to face the May 16 Assembly polls on his own.

Chennai: BJP senior leader and Union minister of state Pon Radhakrishnan on Friday did not rule possibility of joining alliance with AIADMK and pointed out that there was still time for the elections. “Still there is time for elections,” was his cryptic reply when media persons asked whether there was any possibility of the BJP joining hands with AIADMK.

Mr Radhakrishnan, who was credited for forging a rainbow alliance against the AIADMK and the DMK in the LS polls, has made this comment a day after DMDK chief Vijayakanth announced his decision to face the May 16 Assembly polls on his own. Interestingly, the BJP minister refused to comment when asked if his party could join the DMDK alliance.

Meanwhile, BJP state unit president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan continues to woo the DMDK, saying there was strong need for forging a united front to take on both the DMK and the AIADMK. “Only as a joint force can we accomplish victory against the Dravidian parties. If we stand separately, we may realise our individual strength but our common goal of defeating these two Dravidian parties will get defeated and all our efforts in that direction could go waste,” she said.
