Chennai: Even before candidate selection in the DMK, Ariyalur MLA S.S. Sivasankar has started the poll campaign with his name as the party candidate, besides using the name of DMDK leader Vijayakanth in the wall writings.
There were early speculations that DMDK will join the DMK alliance and even DMK president M. Karunanidhi commented that the fruit is ripening and would slip into the milk, giving an impression that the actor's party is about to join hands with the DMK.
Believing the leader's comments, partymen in Ariyalur had started the campaign using Vijayakanth’s name. Besides, the candidate's name is also found on posters even before the official announcement.
Commenting on this, Sivasankar said, “The DMK leadership should decide on the candidates as well as the alliance. But, overzealous cadre had resorted to such wall writings. I have informed them to erase them immediately”.
