TRS to focus on Khammam, Palair and Sattupalli
KHAMMAM: Even as the Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) is going all out to improve its membership in Khammam, Palair and Sattupalli Assembly segments, it is planning to constitute party committees in wards, divisions and gram panchayats on the completion of the membership drive. Ironically, there are presently no party committees in the three segments.
Khammam Assembly segment TRS in-charge Erneni Venkata Ratnam Babu said that they have been directed to target 50,000 memberships in the three constituencies. He said that leaders have promised to enroll 70,000 members in each of them, thanks to the developmental schemes being implemented in the segments.
“People from all walks of life are showing interest in joining TRS. Each member will get Rs two lakh accident insurance cover. Leaders have been asked to complete the task by the month-end”, he said.
TRS is laying more stress on active memberships and having at least 15,000 in that category. The active membership fee is Rs 100 as against Rs 50 for general membership. Active members will be accommodated in party committees and will play a key role in party programmes.
Babu said that the process of constituting party committees will commence on March 1. He said that party sarpanches and leaders are orgainsing the membership drive in villages.
Meanwhile, the party has intensified its campaign for the Graduate MLC elections slated for March 14. The party’s Khammam Town president Kamartapu Murali said that there are 32,000 graduate voters in the assembly segment, including Khammam Municipal Corporation. Corporators are interacting with the electorate to boost the party prospects, he said.
