AP Elections: Nani confident of having 11,000 YSRC sarpanches
VIJAYAWADA: YSR Congress will win 11,000 sarpanch seats in the ongoing gram panchayat elections, claimed Minister for Civil Supplies Kodali Venkateswara Rao (Nani) here on Friday.
Exuding confidence, he said that this was despite the false propaganda being carried by Telugu Desam to divert public attention for their political gains. He said that N Chandrababu Naidu was never concerned about villages or public welfare, which was reflected in the first phase results.
Addressing a press conference, he said that it is Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s governance that is driving the YSRC win-spree in all local body elections. He said that the TD cadre will abandon Naidu after the results.
On the door-delivery of ration supplies, Nani stated that Andhra Pradesh is the only state to have achieved that distinction besides being the only one to distribute sortex rice.
The Minister pointed out that although the Chief Minister had brought the initiative with 9,260 vehicles and had created employment for thousands of people from backward communities, TD leaders were deliberately politicising it by holding back its implementation in villages.
He claimed that the scheme was rolled out on February 1, but citing the election code, a few political parties with the support of SEC Ramesh Kumar and partisan media have stopped its implementation in rural areas.
He said that only 2,067 of 9,260 vehicles are being used to deliver supplies in urban areas.
