Former CS of TN joins Jana Sena
Vijayawada: Former Tamil Nadu chief secretary, P. Rammohan Rao has joined Jana Sena and has been appointed as the political adviser to party president Pawan Kalyan on Monday.
In December 2016, just weeks after Jayalalithaa’s demise, I-T sleuths had raided several properties belonging to Mr Rao and his relatives. I-T sleuths had reportedly carried out the raids after Mr Rao’s name had come up following the questioning of businessman and former member of the TTD Board, V. Shekar Reddy. Mr Rao was then removed from the top post and was months later posted as Director of the Entrepreneurship Develop-ment Institute, Chennai until his retirement in 2017.
Mr Kalayan said Mr Rao effectively ran the AIDMK government without any hassle when the then chief minister J. Jayalalithaa was in hospital. “It showed his capacity and capability. Under his able direction, officials successfully implemented many welfare schemes in Tamil Nadu. Great people like Mr Rao have come forward to serve the party with lots of confidence in me. It is an indication that the party will get strengthened with their support,” Mr Kalyan added.
“I believe that his extensive experience will help the party get direction in political affairs, formation of public policies and also in electioneering. I will take his advice and suggestions to the people and create a golden future for the State of Andhra Pradesh,” the Jana Sena chief said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rao said that he was very happy to join Jana Sena in the presence of Mr Kalyan and assume charge as the political adviser to him. “Andhra Pradesh was in complete distress. When the people of the State were looking for a messiah to protect them, Pawan Kalyan entered the political arena,” he said.
He said people’s aspirations and needs drove Mr Kalyan towards politics. He added, “Pawan Kalyan has a strong commitment to implement the best of the welfare schemes for people. We find leaders like Mr Kalyan who believes serving people is serving God, very rare. He entered politics to realise the dreams of the people sacrificing his enormous income as a number one star in the film industry. He is working hard round the clock for the uplift of youth, women, downtrodden and the backward people.”
He further said that he had been observing that Jana Sena was going closer to the people and it was God’s intention for him to join the hands with Mr Kalyan and work for the party. He said he has decided to stand by him when he first spoke to him.
“I will work hard to take the party to power and see Mr Kalyan as Chief Minister of the State. I will make all out efforts to reach the expectations he had in me,” the former chief secretary of Tamil Nadu said.
