Centre wants to privatise all government sectors, says Manthani MLA

If Singareni officials and workers do not oppose this decision, the central government will privatise the remaining coal blocks too

PEDDAPALLI: The plan of central government is to hand over all government organisations to certain private entities, charged senior Congress leader and Manthani MLA Duddilla Sridhar Babu.

Speaking to media at Manthani in Peddapalli district on Saturday, the former minister maintained that as part of its privatisation plan, the centre is handing over four coal blocks of Singareni at Shravanpally, Mancherial, Yellandu and Sattupalli to private parties. If Singareni officials and workers do not oppose this decision, the central government will end up privatising the remaining coal blocks too in future, he warned.

Sridhar Babu pointed out that after India attained Independence, it was Congress that strengthened all government organisations keeping in view welfare of people and providing employment opportunities to workers, so that they can look after their families.

That is why Congress is again opposing privatisation and several Singareni workers’ unions, including INTUC, have given a call for strike to protect the coal mines. He demanded that the central government take back its decision of privatising coal blocks.
