Congress leaders meet DGP, seek protection

They met the Director General of Police (DGP) on Monday, requesting him to enhance their security in view of the recent attacks.

Hyderabad: A day before the verdict of Telangana people is revealed, Congress leaders are worried about possible attacks on them after the results are declared. They met the Director General of Police (DGP) on Monday, requesting him to enhance their security in view of the recent attacks.

TPCC treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy said, “The threat perception for Congress leaders in Telangana has increased, especially in view of the attacks on our leaders before and on the polling day. The rival party workers attacked Congress leaders Madhu Yashki, K.S. Ratnam, Pilot Rohit Reddy and me. The state police or the security review committee (SRC( did nothing to assess the threat to opposition leaders. It appears that the SRC acted on the directions of the ruling party. Without any valid reason, the SRC has reduced the security of important Congress leaders. We want more security to star campaigner Vijayashanti, former MP Madhu Yashki Goud and me.”

A delegation from the Prajakutami also met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and requested him to provide security cover for all new MLAs of Prajakutami.
