Jana Sena will contest 2019 elections: Pawan Kalyan
Anantapur: Film star and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan said his party will be contesting the 2019 general elections from the state. Experts are preparing the party manifesto that will take in all sections of society and address long pending issues, he said. He did not mention any poll partner. The party's first office will be set up in Anantapur soon and the party slogan is Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan.
Addressing a huge crowd of youngsters at a public meeting at the Junior College grounds here, Mr Kalyan lashed out at the central government for ignoring Special Category Status to the state and special package for the Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra regions.
The Centre had cheated the state and sanctioned funds similar to what other states get, he said. He said Union ministers Arun Jaitley and M.Venkaiah Naidu are giving contradictory statements about the special package with a difference of more than Rs 23,000 cr in the amounts.
“I have great respect for Prime Minister Narendra Modi but I also dare to speak against him in the interests of the people of the state who suffered a lot during bifurcation. I recently wrote a letter to the Prime Minister seeking to accord SCS," the Janasena chief said.
Instead of felicitating the two Union ministers, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu should have resorted to more revolutionary methods to get justice because the SCS was in the Bifurcation Act.
Recalling his alliance with the Telugu Desam and BJP, the film star-turned-politician said he supported them because he was seeking justice for the state after the bifurcation.
"Neither Mr Naidu nor Mr Jagan Mohan are my enemies but the Jana Sena will fight against them for genuine causes and issues." He warned that another separatist movement was possible if the backward regions of Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra are neglected.
