BJP lets N Chandrababu Naidu claim credit

On demonetisation of big currency notes, he said this was to the credit of the Prime Minister.

Vijayawada: BJP state affairs in-charge Siddarth Nath Singh said on Thursday that the BJP has no objection if Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wants to take the credit of initiating the awareness about curtailing the flow of black money.

On reports of the CM having written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on black money long ago, he said at a press meet that anybody could take the credit in this regard, as this was a national issue and the BJP would welcome that.

On demonetisation of big currency notes, he said this was to the credit of the Prime Minister. “This is the surgical strike against corruption and black money, like fight against terrorism,” he said. He slammed the Congress and other parties for raising question on the integrity of the Armed Forces. “Irrespective of the parties ruling the nation, the Army has fought for the integrity of the country.”

“The Congress resorted to Rs 12-lakh crore corruption during UPA rule and now they are uttering the mantra of sanctity,” he said, adding that 23 billion notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes circulating in the country lost validity with the PM’s decision.

He said the Samajwadi Party and the BSP had prepared the ground for the circulation of black money in the UP elections, and same is the case in Punjab, Goa and Uttarakhand.

“With this decision of demonetisation of big currency notes, the common man would be subjected to inconvenience for a brief time, but it is not harassment,” he said.
