Pawan Kalyan accuses Jagan Mohan Reddy of targeting political opponents

Vijayawada: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has accused Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of targeting his political opponents by subjecting them to trouble.

Speaking to media persons at his party office at Mangalagiri on Sunday, Kalyan alleged that whenever anyone questioned the charges of corruption against the YSRC government, they were being targeted and threatened. He said that in case anyone revolted against the government, they would be implicated in false cases of attempt to murder.

Kalyan said that those who earned illegal money and got elected to power with such money were trying to present their opponents as criminals. He opined that if the legal system worked properly, it would be highly impossible for Jagan Mohan Reddy, who served a jail term for 16 months, to become chief minister.

Kalyan also expressed concern over the denial of permission to visit Vijayawada either by air or by road from Hyderabad. He said that he was having his own house at Mangalagiri and his party office was also there, and that there was no need for him to take permission from anyone to visit.

He alleged that YSRC leaders brought in nearly 2,000 criminals with a conspiracy to kill 50 persons during his Varahi yatra in Konaseema district earlier. He said that when the Centre intervened, the leaders took a back step, but still attacked his party activists in Tanuku and Bhimavaram Assembly segments.

Kalyan said that he would be taking up his fourth phase of Varahi Yatra in Krishna district soon with more focus on protection of fundamental rights and to bring about awareness among the people on how to do so.

Earlier, Kalyan announced his party's support to the state-wide bandh call given by Telugu Desam in protest against the arrest of their party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu to be held on Monday.
