No tie-up, BJP to fight all 119 seats

BJP state president Dr K. Laxman claims that only the BJP had the capacity to contain the MIM.

Hyderabad: BJP state president Dr K. Laxman on Monday said that the BJP would not enter into a poll alliance with any party but would contest all the 119 seats on its own in the Assembly elections.

He claimed that only the BJP had the capacity to contain the MIM. Mr Laxman said, “NTR’s soul will not rest in peace if the TD enters into an alliance with the Congress.” He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah would campaign for the BJP in the Assembly elections.

“Mr Shah will visit Telangana on September 15 and launch the party’s campaign from Mahbubnagar. He will cover all the districts in a phased manner. Mr Modi will address a few election meetings in Hyderabad and other major cities, which will be finalised after the election schedule is released,” Dr Laxman told a press conference in Mahbubnagar.

He denied speculations of a ‘secret pact’ between the BJP and the TRS. “The question of secret or open pact with the TRS does not arise. We will contest all the seats and work for the defeat of the the TRS, which failed on all fronts in its first term. To cover up his failures, CM K. Chandrasekehar Rao has taken a hasty decision to dissolve the House before nine months of its original tenure. People are ready to teach him a fitting lesson for his mindless decision,” he said.

Dr Laxman demanded that the CM give a clarification on what forced him to call for early polls to the legislative Assembly when he himself gave a letter to the Centre last month seeking simultaneous polls for the Assembly and Lok Sabha, in support of his argument that separate polls would be a waste of public money besides obstructing development programmes in states.
