TTV Dhinakaran calls for public meet against Neet on September 16

The AIADMK leader, whose appointment as deputy general secretary by his aunt V.K. Sasikala was declared illegal by the party office-bearers.

Chennai: Embattled AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran on Sunday announced that his faction would hold a protest rally against the Neet examination in Tiruchirapalli.

Dhinakaran had cancelled the planned protest meet on Friday after the Supreme Court directive on the matter that no law and order problem should be created during protests.

The AIADMK leader, whose appointment as deputy general secretary by his aunt V.K. Sasikala was declared illegal by the party office-bearers, said the protest, will be held against the inaction on Neet by the state and Central governments.

“I request party cadres, students and those interested in the welfare of the state to take part in it,” he said in the statement. Dhinakaran has been alleging that the Centre was imposing Neet on the students with the “help” of the state government, thereby affecting the dreams of the students getting admitted into medical colleges.

Protests had erupted in Tamil Nadu soon after Anitha, the daughter of a daily wage earner, allegedly hanged herself at her house in Ariyalur district on September 1.
