YSRC Hurt Over JP Nadda's Corruption Allegations

Vijayawada: The ruling YSRC is miffed at BJP president J.P. Nadda’s observation that the law and order and corruption are serious problems under the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government in AP.

Machilipatnam MLA Perni Venkataramaiah, a former state minister, said, that it was rather the scenario during the term of the TD-BJP government in the state.

The MLA alleged that there was a land scam in the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant privatisation as the BJP eyeing the steel plant’s large acres of valuable lands. “The BJP was involved in huge corruption in Karnataka and hence it faced drubbing in the recent elections,” he said.

Venkataramaiah said the Jagan Mohan Reddy government had deposited ₹2.16 lakh crore in the accounts of BCs, SCs, STs and minorities in a transparent manner without any complaint of corruption, from 2019 till today through DBT. Is there any state where the BJP spent half this amount for welfare of the weaker sections?

“Everyone knows about the lawlessness in the BJP-ruled states including the North-East states, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh,” he said.

He said the BJP had promised in its manifesto that the high court would be set up in Kurnool, and asked why this promise was not fulfilled by the previous state government.

“Who is responsible for the sins committed in Amaravati? Money was given by the central government for building a new capital in Amaravati, but TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu spirited it away. This apart, the TD-BJP government looted public money in the name of a free sand scheme.”

But, Jagan Mohan Reddy's government got ₹4,000 crore of income to the exchequer through sand sales. Nadda should answer who pocketed the ₹4,000 crore during the TD-BJP term.

As for Nadda’s allegation of a liquor scam in AP, the MLA said that under the previous government, in the name of a “Delhi recommendation,” 80 per cent of the liquor supply was given to three or four companies. But the Jagan Mohan Reddy government gave liquor contracts to 20 companies. The scam was registered during the TD-BJP term, now, he said.

Responding to the critical comments of Telangana state minister T. Harish Rao against the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government, the MLA said his party did not require any certificates from the TS minister. “Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has put Harish Rao in a corner due to his wrongdoings,” he said.

He said Harish Rao, unable to abuse Chandrashekar Rao, was criticising Jagan Mohan Reddy in the hope that there would be counter-criticism of Chandrashekar Rao by YSRC leaders. “After the formation of the Jagan Mohan Reddy government, was there any instance of land being allotted to private persons? “This was happenign during the TD-BJP rule,” he said.
