Congress hits out at TRS government for threatening RTC

TPPC chief spokesperson Dasoju Sravan wrote an open letter to Mr Rao in this regard on Sunday.

Hyderabad: The Congress blamed the lopsided policies of the TRS government for the financial crisis plaguing the TSRTC. Instead of addressing the issues, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was threatening employees and workers, the party said.

TPPC chief spokesperson Dasoju Sravan wrote an open letter to Mr Rao in this regard on Sunday.

Dr Sravan said, “RTC employees played a crucial role in achieving statehood for Telangana. They halted bus services for 42 days during Sakala Janula Samme due to which the Centre took a favourable decision on granting statehood for Telangana.”

“If rulers in undivided AP had threatened empl-oyees against strike like you, was it possible for employees to go on 42-day strike and was it possible to achieve Telangana state,” Dr Sravan said.

He reminded the CM of his promise during the Telangana agitation that the TRS would pay salar-ies for RTC staff on par with government emplo-yees if voted to power.

“After coming to power, the CM ignored his promise. When employees are trying to remind him of his promise by going on strike, he is treatening them of dismissal,” he added.
