VIJAYAWADA: Environment minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy underlined that YSR Congress is assiduously working to develop Vijayawada city in all aspects.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for construction of a new 1,500 KL capacity drinking water reservoir costing ₹ 3.3 crore at Bhavanipuram Lorry Stand in 40th Division of Vijayawada West Constituency.

MLA and former minister Velampalli Srinivasa Rao, city mayor Rayana Bhagyalakshmi and VMC Commissioner Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar were among those who participated in the programme on Tuesday.

City mayor Bhagyalakshmi said despite Krishna River being right next to the city, people of some parts of Vijayawada are facing drinking water problems in their areas. She said with construction of the reservoir, people of 40th and 41st divisions will get abundant drinking water.

Commissioner Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar sought people’s cooperation in not wasting water.
