K Chandrasekhar Rao likely to announce TRS nominees today

According to TRS sources, former Assem-bly speaker S. Madhusudhanachary is likely to get the ticket from the Warangal local body quota.

Hyderabad: TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to finalise the party’s candidates for the Legislative Council elections on Saturday. The last date for filing the nominations is May 14.

According to TRS sources, former Assembly speaker S. Madhusudhanachary is likely to get the ticket from the Warangal local body quota. Mr Madhusudhanachary was defeated by Congress candidate Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy in the recent Assembly elections from Bhupalpally. Mr Gandra joined the TRS recently.

Mr. Madhusudhana-chary is close to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. After being defeated in the Assem-bly elections, he got a call from Mr Rao and has met him. Mr Rao assured him he would be accommodated somewhere.

Rangareddy district’s Legislative Council candidate will be former minister P. Mahendar Reddy. In the previous elections, Mr Mahendar Reddy's brother Mr P. Narendar Reddy won. In the Assembly elections, Mr Narendar Reddy contested against Congress candidate A. Revanth Reddy and won. After winning the Assembly seat, he resigned as Member of the Legis-lative Council. Mr Mahendar Reddy was defeated from Tandur Assembly constituency but will be given the LC ticket.

From Nalgonda district, local MP Gutta Sukhendar Reddy will be given the Legislative Council ticket. The Chief Minister had assured him that he would be taken into the Cabinet and so he was not given a ticket to contest the Parliamentary elections. If Mr Gutta Reddy is taken into the cabinet, he has to be an MLC as there is no vaca-ncy in the Assembly.

From Warangal district, TRS leader Pochampally Srinivasa Reddy’s name is also under consideration. If he is given the ticket, all three candidates will be from the same community. The seat was earlier held by TRS’s Konda Murali from the BC community. TRS sources said Mr Rao was thinking of giving the Warangal MLC ticket to Mr Madhusudhana-chary, who is also from the BC community. He further plans to make him Telangana Legislative Council chairman, a post that is vacant at present. Mr Madhusudhanachary has five years experience as Assembly speaker.
