Vanathi calls for conservation of water bodies
Chennai: A BJP delegation under the party’s state general secretary Vanathi Srinivasan called on Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanisami and demanded action on improving the water resources in Coimbatore region.
During her meeting with Palanisami at the Secretariat here on Wednesday, Vanathi Srinivasan submitted a memorandum urging the government to desilt Siruvani, Bhavani, Azhiyaru and Pillur dams, protect Noyyal river and implement the Avinashi-Athikadavu scheme in an alternative manner to cut down on implementation costs.
The BJP also sought restoration of Kausika river in Coimbatore and steps to prevent Kerala from constructing check dams on Bhavani river, which caters to drinking water and irrigation needs of Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode
districts.
