Karnataka: KS Eshwarappa - My brigade still matters to me

Mr. Eshwarappa is said to have already contacted his aides in the SRB and asked them to hold conventions in North Karnataka districts.

Bengaluru: Digging in his heels despite being under pressure from the party to severe ties with his Sangaolli Rayanna Brigade (SRB), senior BJP leader, K.S. Eshwarappa is likely to hold a meeting of the brigade next week, according to party sources.

It seems all depends on the arrival of the BJP’s Karnataka in-charge, Murulidhar Rao in the city next week to individually meet 20 rebel leaders and hear their grievances. If he fails to turn up, the rebels will go ahead and hold the brigade’s meetings as planned, going by sources in the Eshwarappa camp.

The veteran leader, who has become a focal point of rebellion in the state BJP, is currently on a pilgrimage with his family. Once he returns to Bengaluru, he will hold a meeting with SRB office bearers, reveal sources close to him.

Mr. Eshwarappa is said to have already contacted his aides in the SRB and asked them to hold conventions in North Karnataka districts. Although persuaded by senior party leaders not to hold SRB conventions anymore, he reportedly changed his mind on seeing the adamancy of state BJP chief, B S Yeddyurappa. Until the party’s central leadership intervenes to set things in order, the rebels will not give up holding the SRB meetings, say sources.
