Bengaluru: Congress goes back to the basics
Bengaluru: The Congress party is holding a five-day conclave in Bengaluru starting May 22 to take stock of the ground situation in the state and study the performance of its sitting legislators in preparation for the 2018 Assembly polls.
Speaking to the Deccan Chronicle, PCC working president, Dinesh Gundu Rao said the meeting would assess the performance of each legislator over the last five years, the work to be done in constituencies and aim to understand the pulse of the people.
“It is a sort of preliminary meeting to test the waters as there is hardly a year to go for the polls. Feedback will be taken from the district presidents on the attitude of legislators and how accessible they are to the voters. Five to six districts will be covered each day.
The district unit presidents are expected to inform the Chief Minister and the party president about the developmental work that needs to be done in their areas to woo voters and help the government establish whether schemes launched in the last four years have reached the beneficiaries or not. Based on this we will work out a strategy to face the elections and retain power in the state," he explained.
