Special tag only way out: YS Jagan Mohan Reddy

The YSRC staged a dharna in front of the collector's office on Tuesday that saw large attendance.

KAKINADA: YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the granting of Special Status was the only way to develop Andhra Pradesh as it would ‘make every district a Hyderabad’ and AP’s revenue would increase.

The YSRC staged a dharna in front of the collector's office on Tuesday that saw large attendance. Jagan said that his party would not give up its agitation until the Centre gave Special Status to AP. He alleged that due to the 'backstabbing politics' of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Centre was withholding Special Status and a special package for AP. If Mr naidu would give an ultimatum to the Centre by withdrawing his ministers from the Union cabinet, New Delhi would immediately announce Special Status for the state, he said.

But, Mr Naidu would not do this. “He dare not exert pressure on the NDA government due to the ‘Vote for Note’ case,” the YSRC leader said, “Mr Naidu is cheating the people. He is giving importance to his own interests rather than the state’s. Naidu got votes by making false promises, saying he would waive the loans of farmers and self help groups.

Later, he cheated them. He is dividing the people in the name of caste, religion and creed. He is not giving jobs to the youth, he is instead terminating jobs after he assumed power.” Mr Reddy said that after bifurcation, the state lost its entire revenue and is facing a deficit of Rs 15,000 crore.
