In Aranmula, Election Commission arranges dollies for disabled
The petitioners also pointed out that there are no handrails for the steps.
Kochi: The Election Commission of India has come to the rescue of the physically challenged and aged voters of two hilly booths in Aranmula constituency by arranging dollie service. The commission’s assurance came as a response to a petition filed in the High Court by Saji K. Simon and others saying the polling stations at SNSVM UP School, Mundukottakkal, Pathanamthitta were situated at a very elevated place.
It is impossible for the aged and disabled persons to climb the 48 steps –the only way to reach the booths the petitioners said. The petitioners also pointed out that there are no handrails for the steps. Justice Anil K Narendran recorded the commission’s submission and disposed off the petition.
