Protest in Mandya against HD Kumaraswamy's son Nikhil Kumaraswamy's candidature

Dr Ravindra said that Mr Nikhil was an outsider, he wanted the JD(S) to give ticket to local leaders.

Bengaluru: Former president of the Indian Medical Association H.S. Ravindra on Sunday staged a dharna in Mandya protesting against the decision of the Janata Dal (Secular) to field Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, from Mandya Lok Sabha constituency.

Under the banner of “fight for self-respect”, a group of people led by Dr Ravindra staged a dharna in front of the statue of Sir M Visvesvaraya in Mandya. Claiming that Mr Nikhil was an outsider, he wanted the JD(S) to give ticket to local leaders.

Police had made security arrangements as precautionary measure.
Complaint

Meanwhile, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader filed a complaint with State Women's Commission against Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna for his remarks against actor Sumalatha, wife of Congress leader late M.H. Ambareesh.

In his complaint, C.T. Manjunath accused Mr Revanna for making derogatory remarks against Ms Sumalatha. The minister should tender apology, failing which legal action should be initiated against him.

On Sunday, Mr Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who visited the Baby Betta in Pandavapura taluk to participate in a religious function along with his mother and Ramanagara MLA Anitha Kumaraswamy, tendered apology on behalf of his uncle Revanna.
