BJP has set fire to coastal dists, reject it in LS poll: Siddaramaiah

Siddaramaiah was in Udupi to participate in the Parivarthana Yatre' of the Congress on Sunday.

Mangaluru: Asking people of Udupi district to support the Congress in the Lok Sabha polls, former chief minister Siddaramaiah accused the the Bharatiya Janata Party of ‘setting fire’ to the coastal districts.

Mr Siddaramaiah was in Udupi to participate in the ‘Parivarthana Yatre’ of the Congress on Sunday.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party has set fire to the coastal districts. Their party workers are also targeted and killed. The Bharatiya Janata Party is a party of murderers, they have been committing murderers since Godse. There is no patriot in the Bharatiya Janata Party,” Mr Siddaramaiah said attacking the saffron party.

He also blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his unkept promises. “In my political life of 40 years, I have not seen a liar like the Prime Minister. Acche din have come to Adani, Ambani and Lalit Modi. I am ready for a open debate with Mr Modi on issues concerning progress and development,” the former chief minister remarked.

Attacking sitting Udupi MP Shobha Karandlaje, Siddaramaiah said she is being opposed by her own party members.

“BJP workers are telling her ‘go back’. Her contribution is zero,” he alleged.

Mr Siddaramaiah also asked party workers not to rest as there are just 35 days left for the election. “Workers should visit every house without resting. You should motivate people to vote the Congress party to power,” he said adding, “there is a coalition government in the state. We will win more than 20 seats.”

Mr Siddaramaiah who landed at Mangaluru International Airport, visited Sri Raja Rajeshwari Temple at Polali before going to Udupi.

The Brahma Kalashabhisheka celebration of the renovated temple is being held from March 3 to 13.
