TPCC picks Balaram Naik as its RS candidate
Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress has selected former Union minister Balaram Naik as its Rajya Sabha candidate. In the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting held here the other day, the Congress had decided to field the candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections to be held on March 23.
In Telangana, Rajya Sabha elections will be held for three seats. To win a seat, the Congress has no strength and it requires the support of 30 MLAs while the Congress has only 12 MLAs. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mr Balaram Naik said the party leadership had decided his candidature for Rajya Sabha elections. Mr Balaram Naik said he will file his nomination on Monday.
Devender Goud seeks another chance. Meanwhile, TD Rajya Sabha member T. Devendar Goud, who is going to retire on April 2, 2018, has requested Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desan national president N. Chandrababu Naidu to give him one more chance. While Mr Naidu has taken up the exercise on selection of party candidates for Rajya Sabha elections, Mr Devendar Goud on Saturday sent a letter to him.
In the letter, Mr Devendar Goud said he had worked as the zilla parishad chairman, was elected three times as MLA, worked as a Cabinet minister for 10 years and is at present a Rajya Sabha member.
Mr Devendar Goud expressed hope that Mr Naidu will select candidates who came from the people and who wishes to work for the welfare of the people.
