Karnataka: CM Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar slam Ravi's remark on Sonia Gandhi

Siddaramaiah said that CT Ravi has made an irresponsible statement against Sonia Gandhi.

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has condemned the controversial tweet of BJP leader C.T. Ravi against AICC President Sonia Gandhi.

Earlier in the day, Mr Ravi had tweeted that "even after ruling the country for six decades, the Gandhis could not build a hospital in India where Sonia Gandhi could get treatment". The Congress president has gone abroad for medical treatment.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Mr Siddaramaiah said, "Ravi has made an irresponsible statement against Sonia Gandhi, He should behave like a responsible politician, his statement is not in good taste."

Mr. Siddaramaiah also criticized BJP leaders for their memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer requesting him to stop the government from announcing populist schemes.

He wondered if the BJP led Central government had postponed the presentation of the budget, even after declaration of the polls in five states.

KPCC working President Dinesh Gundurao too criticized the tweet of Mr Ravi. Meanwhile, Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar said that Mr Ravi had lost his mental balance.

He told reporters that Mr Ravi needed psychiatric treatment and if his party cannot provide one, the Congress would provide counselors to him. There is nothing wrong in Mrs Gandhi going abroad for treatment, he added.
