CPM desperate to save face: Ramesh Chennithala
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala on Friday said that CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was levelling baseless charges against Congress to hide his party's serious differences with the CPI over Law Academy agitation issue. Reacting to Kodiyeri’s accusations in Deshabhmani, Chennithala said the shameless attempts made by the CPM to sabotage the strike of Law Academy students at the behest of management had been completely exposed before the people.
CPM and SFI back stabbed the student agitation by entering into a unilateral agreement with the management. It was CPI leader Pannyan Raveendran who accused education minister C Raveendranath of acting like a stooge of the management. Chennithala reminded Kodiyeri that veteran leader V S Achuthanandan had rejected the agreement reached between SFI and the management.
Does Kodiyeri mean that CPI and Achuthanadnan fell prey to BJP-sponsored agitation, he asked. KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran said that Kodiyeri's article was to hide the embarrassment caused to CPM because of their complete isolation in the law academy agitation issue. He said the party state secretary may write any number of articles but they will not be able to overcome the setback suffered during the agitation.
