BJP govt in TS would have jailed KTR, Cong. trying to shield BRS: Bandi Sanjay

Karimnagar: BJP general secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday said that the party if it had formed government, would have ensured that BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao was jailed for corruption and irregularities.

“KTR is thinking that he is still in power and is behaving with the same arrogance. Along with KTR, the family of former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao looted the Telangana state. People are not able to understand why the Congress government is sparing the KCR family,” he said.

The former state BJP chief said: “Congress leaders, who alleged that the BRS government indulged in corruption of more than Rs 1 crore in the construction works of the Kaleshwaram project, instead of probing it, are now saying that they will conduct judicial inquiry only on the Medigadda Barrage.”

The Congress is adopting a dual policy in conducting an inquiry on the irregularities of the Kaleshwaram project and is trying to protect the leaders of the BRS, he alleged.

He was speaking to media persons after inaugurating a 3K run organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), from Geetha Bhavan to SRR Degree College in Karimnagar, to mark Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary.

Sanjay reiterated the party’s stance that a CBI probe could be initiated immediately into the Kaleshwaram project if requested by the Congress government.

“In the best interest of the people of Telangana state, the BJP is ready to extend its cooperation to the Congress government in investigating the irregularities of the Kaleshwaram project. But the way the Congress is behaving, it has become clear that it is trying to cover the corruption charges on the BRS leaders,” he alleged.

On the pran prathistha ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, he said, “The Congress is forgetting that it is not a BJP programme. The ceremony is going to be held on a grand note in a peaceful atmosphere, irrespective of political affiliations. The Congress must announce its stand on the construction of Sri Ram Mandir,” he said.
